Carlton announced the signing of Wil Parker as a delisted free agent after he left Collingwood after last season. The Pies used Parker in and out of the side over the course of last season as he played in 14 of Collingwood’s 24 games.
Parker was used off half-back for Collingwood during last season where he averaged 11 touches per game and one tackle per game.
Last season was Parker’s third year after being drafted in which he continued to improve from the last two seasons. However, Collingwood still decided to delist him with five other players.
For Carlton, Parker will provide more half-back depth alongside the addition of Lachie Whitfield from GWS during the trade period. Parker will likely be used in the same half-back role he was used for at Collingwood, but likely not in the best 23 at first.
Parker will be a strong depth piece for the Blues next season and will likely spend most of the season with the VFL side. Carlton have a need for depth off half-back after delisting Adam Saad, Jordan Boyd and Zac Williams this offseason.
